Attending TechEd 2009 next week? If you or your customers are around on Monday 5/11, I (objectively) recommend attendance at the “PKI in a Web Services World” breakout session from 2:45-4PM in room 408A. This session is our first public breakout for the new Certificate Enrollment Web Services in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. We’ve been working with several partners in the public root space, and GlobalSign will be joining us on stage to cover the end to end experiences for SSL certificate enrollment in Windows. We'll post a link on the blog when the online recordings for this session become available.

Session Title: SIA316 PKI in a Web Services World

Presenters: Masakazu Asano, Chris Macaulay, Steve Roylance

Time/Place: Mon 5/11 | 2:45 PM-4:00 PM | Room 408A

Tags: 300 - Advanced, Breakout Session, Security, Identity and Access

Abstract: Windows 7 PKI smashes traditional LDAP and DCOM protocol boundaries with new Web Services for Certificate Enrollment. Automatic enrollment can happen for remote enterprise users without VPN, for consumers on the Internet, and for Web servers in the enterprise that need publicly trusted SSL certificates. Learn about new services from public issuers, how Web services have been incorporated into Windows 7, and how you can make the most of your existing PKI investments with the features Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 releases bring.

In addition to the “PKI in a Web Services World” session, Brian Komar will be covering the new PKI Consolidation features in an interactive session on Monday, naturally during the same time.

Title: SIA03-INT Deploying Certificates in Multiple Forest Environments with Windows Server 2008 R2 PKI

Time/Place: Mon 5/11 | 2:45 PM-4:00 PM | Orange Thr 1

Tags: Security, Identity and Access, TLC Interactive Theater

Abstract: Windows Server 2008 R2 introduces the ability to issue certificates to users and computers in other forests. This session looks at the minimum requirements and possible solutions that allow you to reduce the number of CAs required for multiple forest environments.
