Digital Envelopes

Digital envelopes are used to send private messages that can only be understood by a specific recipient. The method used is identical to that described in Data Encryption, with the additional provision that the message is encrypted using the recipient's public key. The message can then be decrypted only by using the recipient's private key, so only the recipient will be able to understand the message.
