Netscape Web Server Certification

Netscape Enterprise Server provides a user interface (UI) to generate a new public/private key pair and a certificate request. The Base64-encoded request can be copied and pasted into the text box in the Web Server Enrollment Page and submitted to Microsoft® Certificate Server. Alternatively, the request can be copied and pasted into Notepad, saved into a text file, and submitted to Certificate Server that way.

An additional Enterprise Server user interface must then be used to install the Certificate Authority (CA) certificate for the Certificate Server issuing the server certificate, and then the same UI will install the new server certificate. If the Certificate Server CA certificate is not installed first, Enterprise Server will not accept the new server certificate. The Certificate Server CA certificate and the server certificate must also be pasted into the Enterprise Server UI. Restart Enterprise Server after the certificate has been installed so it will be available for use.
