Backing Up and Restoring a Server Installation

Automatic backup of Microsoft® Certificate Server information is not supported and should not be necessary. However, you can manually backup and restore a server installation if you desire.

To backup a Certificate Server installation
  1. Make a backup copy of the files in the Shared Folder.

  2. Make a backup copy of the registry.

  3. Make a backup copy of CertSrv.mdb.

  4. Make a backup copy of the c:\Winnt\System32\CertSrv directory and its sub-directories.
To restore a previous Certificate Server installation
  1. Install the Certificate Server program files using the setup program. When the Configuration Wizard is started and the Introduction dialog is displayed, click Cancel.

  2. Reinstall the backup copies of the Shared Folder files, the registry and the CertSrv.mdb file.
